Care for Rashes & Skin Irritations at Big Sky Dermatology
Rash is not a specific diagnosis but refers to any skin inflammation or skin discoloration. Eczema, also known by its medical name atopic dermatitis, is a common rash in people with asthma or allergies. Eczema is typically reddish, itchy and scaly. People with asthma and hay fever often have eczema, too.
Other common rashes include heat rash, hives, poison ivy and athlete’s foot. Psoriasis is a common skin condition that causes scaly, itchy, red rashes to form on the scalp, elbows and other joints.
Seborrheic dermatitis is the most common type of rash that affects adults. It produces itchy eruptions on the scalp, forehead, cheeks, brows and outer ears. Contact dermatitis is brought on by direct contact with an irritating substance such as poison ivy or the nickel used in some costume jewelry.
Treatments vary widely according to your diagnosis so your best course of action is to see our dermatologist.
